Mbarara City boda-boda riders are grappling with a worsening fuel crisis, as rising prices and persistent shortages disrupt their daily operations.
Fuel prices have surged from about UGX 5,500 per litre to between UGX 7,000 and 10,000, forcing many riders to increase fares an adjustment that has reduced passenger numbers.
The situation has been worsened by shortages at several filling stations, leaving some riders unable to work for extended periods.
Rider Victory Nuwagaba said the scarcity is making it difficult to sustain the business, while Mugabe Charles noted that higher fares are driving customers away and cutting daily earnings.
Riders are now calling on the government to intervene and stabilize fuel prices to ease the pressure on their livelihoods.
