Kasese journalists have been trained on Ebola Virus Disease reporting to improve accuracy and safety during coverage.

The training brought together field reporters and editors from different media houses, with facilitators emphasizing responsible reporting and personal protection while in the field.

Kasese District Senior Health Educator Agnes Mbambu urged journalists to regularly disinfect their equipment while on assignment and obtain accurate information through proper channels.

District Health Inspectorate official Julius Mutoro called on reporters to use well-researched data when informing communities to help prevent panic and misinformation.

The training was organised by the Kasese District Health Department with support from development partners including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and Enabel.

Kasese is considered a high-risk district for Ebola due to its proximity to the Democratic Republic of Congo border, while Ministry of Health data shows Uganda has registered 20 Ebola cases so far.
