Hajj Yunus Kakande, the Secretary for Administration in the Office of the President, has issued a stern warning to Resident District Commissioners (RDCs), their deputies, and assistants, stating that they will face punishments for stalled government projects.

Kakande made the remarks during the opening of a three-day capacity-building workshop for RDCs, RCCs, their deputies, RISOs, and DISOs from the Ankole Sub Region at Hotel Triangle in Mbarara City on Friday.

Kakande emphasized that the President’s representatives hold the authority to hold local government leaders accountable for funds allocated to projects. He expressed concern that many government projects remain ineffective despite being under the supervision of RDCs, their deputies, DISOs, and Assistant RDCs.

He demanded that commissioners in charge of such projects explain why they remain incomplete, especially when funds were allocated, and the projects had already started. Kakande warned that those responsible must face consequences for their failure to deliver.

Sister Grace Akiror, the Head of Resident District Commissioners at the secretariat, also cautioned the RDCs to avoid actions that could harm the President or the country. She noted that many RDCs have struggled to effectively manage their offices and urged them to avoid undermining the system.

Akiror further advised commissioners to refrain from using social media to address internal conflicts within their offices.
