More than 60 individuals have been struck off the National Resistance Movement (NRM) register in Rwakitura village, Nshwerenkye Parish, Kenshunga Sub-county, following a thorough membership audit during a village baraza.

The verification exercise was supervised by Dr. Tanga Odoi, Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, and conducted in the presence of the party’s National Chairperson and President of Uganda, H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Of the 351 members originally listed in the party register, only 290 were confirmed as valid.

The rest were removed due to factors such as relocation from the village or having passed away before the party’s validation process commenced.

While addressing residents, President Museveni emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate and up-to-date grassroots party records.

He highlighted that if each of Uganda’s 72,000 villages maintains at least 260 active NRM members, the party could potentially command a powerful support base of approximately 20.8 million Ugandans.

The President further assured members that the NRM Electoral Commission would soon provide official guidance on the next steps in the ongoing nationwide registration and verification efforts aimed at strengthening party structures at all levels.
