Shock has engulfed residents of Kanyangeya Main Cell in Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality, after a lifeless body was found lying in an incomplete house in the area.
The Local Council I Chairperson, Mr. Deo Isemamba, said the deceased, who had not yet been identified, was discovered in the morning in an unfinished house belonging to Mr. Rujumba Ngobi. He said passers-by noticed a strong foul smell coming from the structure, which led to the discovery of the decomposing body.
Mr. Isemamba has urged residents with incomplete houses to ensure they are properly secured and inaccessible to strangers in order to prevent similar incidents.
Ms. Joyce Biira Kiripi, a resident of the area, called on parents to always account for their children’s whereabouts, noting that it is worrying when someone goes missing without being noticed. She suspects the deceased may be among those who leave home in search of employment opportunities.
Some residents expressed concern over rising insecurity and called for greater community vigilance, emphasizing the need for people to look out for one another in order to respond quickly in case of emergencies.
