One person has been confirmed dead and several others injured following a road accident along the Kabale-Mbarara Road in Kabale District.
The crash occurred at around 11:00 PM yesterday in Kabaraga Village and involved a SINO truck, registration numbers UA 156AM/T UA 165AA, and a silver Toyota vehicle, registration number UAZ 774S.
The deceased, identified as Nabimanya Naboth, 45, a resident of Bukinda in Rukiga District, was traveling in the SINO truck.
According to police, the Toyota, reportedly speeding from Mbarara towards Kabale, collided head-on with the SINO truck coming from the opposite direction.
Both vehicles overturned on impact. Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson Elly Maate said the scene was attended by ASP Mucunguzi Wilson and his team, and efforts to remove the trapped body were ongoing.
The injured, whose identities had not yet been established, were rushed to hospital by good Samaritans.
The Toyota has been towed to Kabale Central Police Station for inspection, while the SINO truck remains at the scene awaiting recovery.
