Police with canin dog the house of Brain Muwanguzi

Police in Sheema District have arrested one suspect in connection with an aggravated robbery that occurred in the early hours of May 20, 2026, in Rwentunda Cell.

The suspect has been identified by police as Brian Muhanguzi.

According to the District Police Commander of Sheema, ASP Kasule Conslanta, assailants allegedly broke into a residence at around 3:00am, attacked and injured one of the occupants, and stole several household items including a flat-screen television set, kitenge clothes, and other valuables before fleeing the scene.

The incident was reported to Police, prompting officers together with the Canine Unit to respond immediately to the scene.

During the operation, Police introduced a sniffer dog which picked up a scent trail believed to belong to one of the suspects and tracked it for about 200 metres to the residence of Brian Muwanguzi, where it sat at the door, indicating a possible connection to the crime.

Police said the suspect was not at home at the time and the house was locked.

However, a subsequent search allegedly led to the recovery of a flat-screen television, clothes, a panga, a hammer, and other suspected housebreaking implements.

Muwanguzi now the key suspect was later arrested to assist Police with ongoing investigations into the aggravated robbery.

Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
