The Chairperson of Kashare Sub-county in Mbarara District, Fred Mwesigye, has strongly denied allegations linking him to livestock theft and warned that he will take legal action against those tarnishing his reputation.

Mwesigye was responding to claims reportedly made by Mbarara Resident District Commissioner Nicholas Nuwagiira during the launch of the Rubindi–Kashare road in Ncuune Parish last week, where a list of suspected cattle thieves was reportedly presented.

Speaking on Wednesday, Mwesigye said the list was allegedly generated by his political opponents and criticized the RDC for publicly damaging his name without proper investigations.

He maintained that he has served in public office for 30 years without any scandal and vowed to take legal action against those spreading false allegations.

Meanwhile, leaders in Kashare Sub-county and Mbarara District have acknowledged rising cases of livestock theft, calling for stronger security measures and coordinated investigations to address the problem.
