Kasese District Council has approved budget estimates totaling UGX 128 billion for the 2026/2027 financial year, marking an increase of UGX 20 billion compared to the current financial year.

The motion was moved during a council session held at the Kasese Multipurpose Hall by Sharon Musoki.

Musoki said the increase was partly attributed to additional wage requirements, including salary enhancements for district staff.

The budget is expected to support key sectors including health, education, roads, agriculture, and water as the district seeks to improve service delivery and respond to growing population needs.

Councillors welcomed the increment but urged district leaders to ensure accountability and timely implementation of planned projects.

Meanwhile, District Speaker Johnson Mayoral said the approved budget will now be forwarded to the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development for further processing ahead of the new financial year beginning in July 2026.
