Kabale District has received a new ambulance from the Ministry of Health Uganda to strengthen emergency service delivery in Kabale Municipality Constituency.

The ambulance is part of a larger donation of 23 ambulances and seven fire trucks from the Government of Japan under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). Other beneficiary areas include Buikwe, Masindi, Pallisa, Oyam, Apac, Bushenyi, Nebbi, Ibanda, and Hoima City.

The fleet was officially received on Tuesday at the ministry headquarters in Kampala by Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng, with the handover presided over by Japan’s Ambassador to Uganda, Takuya Sasayama.

Seven fire trucks from the same donation were handed over to the Uganda Police Force to boost fire emergency response. Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba said the trucks will be deployed in Tororo, Mpigi, Kiryandongo, Lira, Bundibugyo, Iganga, and Luwero.

Dr Aceng described the donation as timely, noting it will improve emergency medical response, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

Kabale District Communications Officer, Alex Byakatonda, confirmed the ambulance has been received and is expected to enhance service delivery within the municipality.

Kabale previously received another ambulance in November 2023 under a nationwide distribution program by the Ministry of Health.
