The Kabale Diocese has announced that Bishop-elect Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire will be ordained and installed as the new Bishop of Kabale Diocese on October 3, 2026, at Our Lady of Good Shepherd–Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale Municipality.
The announcement was made by Apostolic Administrator Bishop Callist Rubaramira, following Pope Leo XIV’s acceptance of his resignation and the appointment of Bishop-elect Gubazire as his successor.
Bishop Rubaramira has called on priests, religious and the faithful to pray for the bishop-elect and actively support preparations for the historic ceremony, which is expected to attract thousands of Catholics, bishops, government officials and other dignitaries from Uganda and beyond.
Bishop-elect Gubazire, a member of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers), has served in pastoral, academic and missionary roles in Mozambique, Malawi, France, Ireland, the Philippines and Ghana over the past two decades before his appointment to lead the Kabale Diocese.
