COSASE Demands Accountability Over Investor Land Allocation

By Uziah Tusaasire

Parliament’s Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) has directed officials from the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) to provide a detailed report and explain the criteria used in allocating land to investors.

The committee, chaired during a meeting with UIA officials led by Director General Robert Mukiza, raised concerns that some investors acquire government land for free but later sell it instead of undertaking the intended investments.

The concerns stem from findings in the Auditor General’s report, prompting lawmakers to demand greater transparency and accountability in the allocation of public land.
