Over 7,000 residents in Ibanda District have received mosquito nets from the district health office in a move aimed at combating the spread of malaria in the area.
According to the Ibanda District Health Officer, Dr. Julius Bamwine, the district received 18,600 mosquito nets from the Ministry of Health, which are being distributed to communities.
He noted that malaria remains a major health challenge in Ibanda, with several cases reported in different parts of the district.
Dr. Bamwine also warned residents against misusing the mosquito nets for purposes such as poultry rearing, urging that they be used strictly for their intended purpose.
The Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Mbetegyereize, called on stakeholders to ensure the exercise is conducted properly and reaches the intended target groups.
