The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in Ibanda District has raised concern over unpaid water bills amounting to UGX 1 billion, saying the debt is affecting service delivery and the expansion of clean water access.

Ibanda Area Manager Eng. Agnes Amanya said the corporation is facing financial strain because many consumers have failed to clear their outstanding bills.

Amanya also accused the Ibanda Municipal engineering department of frequently damaging water pipelines during road maintenance works, disrupting water supply in several communities.

NWSC has urged consumers to clear their bills and called on municipal authorities to coordinate with the corporation before carrying out road works.
