Two Children Killed, Three Injured in Ggaba Stabbing Incident

Two children have died and three others were injured after they were allegedly stabbed at a family home in Kalungu Bunga, Ggaba Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala, early Thursday morning.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on August 20, 2026. A housemaid was reportedly alerted by an alarm and cries for help before discovering the children with severe stab wounds.

Police identified the deceased as 14-year-old Khadija Daizy, who was found dead in her bedroom, and 7-year-old Hawa Dalena, who later died while receiving treatment at Nsambya Hospital.

Three other children, aged 13, 8 and 5, survived the attack and were rushed to hospital.

The suspect has been identified as Namayo Dorothy, 43, a Kenyan national and mother of the children. She was also found injured and is currently receiving treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital under police guard.

Police said a Toyota Hiace vehicle at the home was also set on fire and completely burnt. A jerrycan suspected to have contained petrol was recovered from the scene.

The bodies of the deceased children were taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examinations.

Police have opened a case of murder, attempted murder and arson at Kabalagala Police Division. Homicide detectives, Scene of Crime Officers and Fire and Rescue personnel examined the scene and recovered exhibits for forensic analysis.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances and motive behind the attack.
