Police in Mbarara city have arrested at least ten individuals suspected of dealing in illegal drugs during an operation conducted in Kisenyi.
Authorities reported that the suspects were found in possession of marijuana, aviation fuel and other prohibited substances.
According to SP Kenneth Gumisiriza the Mbarara city division police commander, the operation was launched following growing complaints from residents about an increase in robbery incidents and violent attacks within the area.
Gumisiriza confirmed the arrests and stated that case files for the suspects are being prepared for submission to the State Attorney.
He added that the suspects will be formally charged and presented before court.
SP Gumisiriza further noted that similar operations will be intensified and expanded across the city as part of ongoing efforts to restore law and order.
