The Judiciary has trained local leaders in Ibanda District on handling small claims to improve community dispute resolution and access to justice.

The training brought together Local Council chairpersons and Community Development Officers to equip them with skills under the Small Claims Procedure.

Assistant Registrar Mastula Mulonde said the initiative aims to speed up justice delivery, especially for small-scale business disputes.

She noted low uptake of the procedure in the district, with only 64 cases handled last financial year, and urged leaders to promote its use.
