Mbarara City Commissions UGX 129M Patient Shelters at Two Health Centres

Mbarara City Council has commissioned newly constructed patient waiting shelters at Ruti Health Centre II and Nyamityoobora Health Centre II in Mbarara City South Division, in a project valued at UGX 129 million.

Each facility received a waiting shade worth UGX 64 million, implemented during the 2024/2025 financial year.

The project at Ruti Health Centre II was undertaken by JB Kabuyanda Limited, while works at Nyamityoobora Health Centre II were executed by Epic Fine Services and Contractors Limited. Both projects were completed within four months.

Speaking at the commissioning, Deputy Mayor Priscah Mulongo Muganzi commended the contractors for delivering quality work.

She acknowledged ongoing staffing challenges in the city’s health facilities and assured the public that efforts are underway to address the gaps.

Meanwhile, Mbarara City South Division Mayor Jomo Mugabi urged residents to prioritize disease prevention, emphasizing that maintaining good health practices is a shared responsibility.

Mbarara City South Division Civil Engineer Ben Tumwijukye explained that the projects involved key construction stages, including foundation laying, installation of starter bars, placement of hardcore, and concrete casting.

He noted that the structures are durable and will provide reliable shelter for patients seeking healthcare services.

The projects were officially commissioned by Gerald Tukamuheebwa, who praised the quality of the work and called on the community to make proper use of the facilities.
