Ritah Atukwase Bwahika, the outgoing Mbarara City Woman Member of Parliament, has conceded defeat in the recent elections while condemning acts of impunity allegedly carried out by her political opponents.
Despite losing the race, Bwahika congratulated her opponent, Kibaaju Charity Kamuhanda, as well as President Yoweri Museveni, and urged her supporters to peacefully accept the election outcome.
According to the official results, Bwahika garnered 22,526 votes, narrowly losing to Kamuhanda, who secured 23,413 votes.
In her statement, Bwahika called on her supporters to forgive those they may have clashed with politically and to put aside differences in the interest of unity and reconciliation.
She further emphasized the need for continued support for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, urging citizens to focus on development and the collective progress of the nation.
