The number of incumbent Members of Parliament who have lost their seats in the Kigezi sub-region has risen to ten, according to results released by district electoral authorities.
Among the notable casualties is the Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, David Bahati, who lost the Ndorwa County West parliamentary seat to National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Eliab Naturinda Mporera. Bahati polled 17,282 votes, while Mporera secured 22,601 votes.
In Rubanda District, the incumbent Woman Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Commissioner, Prossy Mbabazi Akampurira, was defeated by independent candidate Evelyn Ninsiima Kikafunda.
Akampurira obtained 36,846 votes, while Ninsiima won with 48,732 votes, according to results declared by Rubanda District Returning Officer Medard Nteziyaremye.

The Rukungiri District Woman MP seat also changed hands after incumbent Midias Natukunda Kaharata lost to NRM flag bearer Mary paula Turyahikayo, who polled 59,448 votes. Kaharata received 32,794 votes. Other candidates included Betty Muzanira (PFF) with 18,227 votes, Christine Tusanyuke (FDC) with 844 votes, and independent Innocent Nabasa Kashobera, who garnered 1,063 votes.
In Rubabo County, incumbent Naboth Namanya (PFF) lost to NRM’s Mathias Mwesigwa Rwabugumi. Namanya polled 14,780 votes, while Rwabugumi secured 16,102 votes. Independent candidate Bob Rugonde followed closely with 13,545 votes. The results were declared on Saturday by Rukungiri District Returning Officer Abbas Namara.
In Kabale District, incumbent Woman MP Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira lost her seat to NRM flag bearer Enid Atuheire Origumisiriza, while Wilfred Niwagaba was defeated in Ndorwa County East by Dr. Protazio Begumisa.
Other incumbents who lost their seats include Dr. Nicholas Thadeus Kamara, defeated by Andrew Aja Baryayanga in Kabale Municipality; Moses Kamuntu Mwongyera, who lost Rubanda County West to Bruce Balaba Kabaasa; John Ninzenyimana Kamara, defeated by Fortunate Habyara in Bufumbira North; and Rolland Ndyomugyenyi, who lost Rukiga County to NRM flag bearer Patrick Katabazi Kiconco.
