Former Ntare School Headteacher Granted Ugx5 million cash bail

By Aggrey Twesigye

The Anti-Corruption Court has granted former Ntare School headteacher Jimmy Turyagyenda, 63, a cash bail of UGX 5 million in a case involving the alleged loss of UGX 110.87 million in government funds.

Principal Magistrate Christopher Opit granted Turyagyenda bail after he presented substantial sureties and proof of transferring part of the disputed funds to the Inspectorate of Government’s Asset Recovery Bank Account.

Turyagyenda was jointly charged with the current Ntare School headteacher, Saul Rwampororo, and former school office typist Peace Kebirungi over alleged abuse of office and causing financial loss amounting to UGX 110,877,900.

However, Turyagyenda denied the charges and is expected to return to court on November 20, 2026.

Meanwhile, Rwampororo, who is currently out on bond, failed to appear before the Inspectorate of Government to record a charge and caution statement. Kebirungi appeared but reportedly left before recording her statement.
