Police Recover Suspected Stolen Cattle in Wakiso

By Uziah Tusaasire

Kampala Metropolitan Police are holding three cows believed to have been stolen from an area suspected to be in Ssemuto, Nakaseke District, following an intelligence-led operation in Masajja, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Luke Owoyesigyire, police received intelligence on April 17, 2026, indicating that suspected stolen cattle were being transported in a white Toyota Regius, registration number UAP 155D, to Masajja Kibira “A” Cell.

A joint police team responded and recovered the three cows together with the vehicle. However, the occupants fled the scene before police arrived. Two suspects were later arrested to assist with investigations.

The recovered cattle are currently being held in police custody as investigations continue to establish their rightful ownership and identify other suspects linked to the theft.

Police are appealing to livestock farmers and anyone who recently lost cattle in Ssemuto, Nakaseke District, or the surrounding areas to report to Katwe Police Station with proof of ownership to verify whether the recovered animals belong to them.

Acceptable proof of ownership includes veterinary records, branding or identification marks, photographs, purchase records, Local Council verification, or any other credible evidence.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and police say more updates will be provided as they become available.
