Kampala Metropolitan Police, working with other security agencies, have arrested 60 suspects during coordinated operations targeting criminal hideouts and identified black spots in Kampala and Mukono districts.
The operations, conducted on the nights of 7th and 8th July, covered Kiwempe and Kibati in Kabalagala Police Division, Mutungo Zone One in Nakawa Division, and Bajjo and Ntinda in Seeta, MukonoDistrict.
Police say the crackdown was aimed at curbing street crime, house break-ins, robberies, phone snatching, and drug-related offences.
According to Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, 30 suspects were arrested in Kiwempe and Kibati, 22 in Bajjo and Ntinda, where some were found with suspected opium, and eight in Mutungo Zone One.
The suspects are undergoing screening and remain in custody pending prosecution as police continue operations to dismantle criminal networks and improve public safety.
