Police in Hima Division, Kasese District, are investigating circumstances under which a 28-year-old man, identified as Mande Muhammad, was allegedly lynched by a mob.
Mande, together with Thembo Abdallah, both residents of Nyakabale Village, Kitswamba Sub-county, were reportedly beaten on 8th July 2026 at around 9:20 am in Sayuni Central Cell, Rugendabara-Kikongo Town Council, on suspicion of being thieves.
Police from Kitswamba Station responded to the incident and found the two men badly injured. Thembo Abdallah was rescued, but Mande died while being taken to a vehicle. His body was taken to Kasese Municipal Council Mortuary for examination as investigations continue to identify those involved.
Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson ASP Maate Elly has urged the public to avoid mob justice and instead hand suspected offenders over to authorities for legal action.
