Heavy Rain Delays UCE Paper Distribution In Mbarara

By Aggrey Twesigye

Distribution of Uganda Certificate of Education, UCE, examination papers in Mbarara City was delayed this morning after heavy rain disrupted the collection of papers by schools.

The exercise was scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m., but the downpour that started around 7:00 a.m. affected mainly schools using motorcycles to collect papers from Mbarara Central Police Station.

At the station, which serves as the storage facility for Mbarara City, distribution started at about 8:50 a.m.

Some headteachers arrived with umbrellas to collect the examination papers, while others braved the rain to transport the papers on motorcycles. Mbarara City UNEB supervisor Godfrey Birungi urged headteachers to follow all examination rules and guidelines.

Meanwhile, Methodious Akankwatsa, headteacher of Cream Land Secondary School, said the school was fully prepared, with all 110 candidates adequately oriented.

Eric Gumoshabe, headteacher of Nyakayojo Secondary School, said all 111 candidates had been allowed to sit the examinations regardless of whether they had fully cleared their school fees.
