Mbarara Police Rescue 78 More Youths in Suspected AIM Networking Scheme Crackdown

By Aggrey Twesigye

Police in Mbarara City have rescued 78 youths aged between 18 and 30 who were allegedly lured by the Global Alliance In Motion (AIM) networking scheme with promises of employment and quick financial success.

According to Rwizi Region Police spokesperson SP Samson Kasasira, the youths were found overcrowded in small rooms in the Lubiri and Lugazi areas of Mbarara City. The latest operation brings the total number of youths rescued from the scheme to 374 over the past three weeks.

Kasasira said the victims were found with notebooks containing motivational notes on how to become billionaires within a week, which investigators believe were being used to attract and influence recruits.

Police suspect the scheme has been targeting young people from different parts of the country with promises of lucrative jobs and rapid wealth creation.

Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are underway to identify those behind the recruitment. The rescued youths will be reunited with their families as police continue cracking down on the alleged scheme.
