Mbarara High Court Circuit Goes Live on ECCMIS

By Aggrey Twesigye

The rollout of the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS) to the Mbarara High Court Circuit is expected to improve access to judicial services in the Ankole Sub-region by shifting court operations from manual filing to a fully digital system.

ECCMIS allows lawyers, litigants, and judicial officers to electronically file cases, pay court fees, and track case progress without physically visiting court premises.

The system was officially launched at Mbarara Chief Magistrates Court, which coordinates the Mbarara High Court Circuit under Cluster 8.

The circuit covers six Chief Magistrates Courts, including Mbarara, Ntungamo, Kiruhura, Isingiro, Ibanda, and Mbarara Municipal Court.

Mbarara High Court Assistant Registrar Henry Twinomuhwezi said the platform is aimed at improving efficiency in case handling, reducing delays, and minimizing corruption linked to manual court processes.

He noted that the system will reduce physical interaction between court users and clerical staff, while also helping to curb complaints related to missing files and bribery.
