Kasese District Elects New Council Leadership

Kasese District has elected a new council leadership following elections held on, May 19, 2026, at the Multipurpose Hall in Kasese Municipality.

During his swearing-in for a second term as Kasese District LCV Chairperson, Eliphaz Muhindi Bokombi said his re-election reflects the continued trust and confidence that the people of Kasese have placed in his leadership.

In the Speaker’s race, Nelson Masereka, the district councillor representing Muhokya Town Council, was elected Speaker of Kasese District for the 2026–2031 council term.

Masereka won with 49 votes, representing 62.02 percent, defeating Hon. Bernard Masereka of Maliba Town Council, who garnered 29 votes, representing 36.7 percent.

Hon. Biira Confidence was also elected Deputy Speaker.

Leaders and residents have expressed optimism that the new council team will effectively steer the district’s development agenda.
