Sixty-one pupils at Kigarama II Primary School in Kazo District will be required to repeat Primary Seven after being implicated in examination malpractice during the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

The decision follows confirmation by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), which withheld the pupils’ results after investigations into alleged irregularities.

Kazo District Education Officer, Mwiine Lamech Mirembe, said the findings were verified after a district delegation—comprising the Chief Administrative Officer, school inspectors, and headteachers—visited UNEB on March 10, 2026, where they received official communication on the matter.

Mirembe explained that UNEB directed that all affected candidates must retake the examinations in 2026, effectively requiring them to repeat Primary Seven.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to examination guidelines, noting that malpractice undermines the credibility of the education system and disadvantages honest candidates.

District officials have since urged schools to strengthen supervision during examinations and instill discipline among learners to prevent similar incidents in the future.
