Kitagwenda District has registered an increase in its budget for the 2025/2026 financial year, a development officials attribute to improved performance in local government service delivery.

According to district authorities, the budget has grown from Shs 28.25 billion in the current financial year to approximately Shs 29.31 billion, reflecting an increment of over Shs 1 billion. The increase is expected to further strengthen service delivery across key sectors in the district.

The District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Moses R.K. Dalili, announced the development on Tuesday during a district council meeting held at the district headquarters. While addressing council members, Dalili linked the budget growth to the district’s improved performance in the Local Government Service Delivery Performance Assessment conducted by the Office of the Prime Minister.

He noted that the positive assessment results played a significant role in influencing funding allocation, highlighting the importance of efficiency, accountability, and effective implementation of government programs at the local level.

Dalili commended both political leaders and technical staff for their collective efforts, saying their coordination and commitment have greatly contributed to the district’s progress in service delivery.

He further called on all departments to prioritize accountability and efficient use of resources to ensure continued growth and better outcomes for residents.

District leaders expressed optimism that the increased budget will support the implementation of key development projects, improve infrastructure, and enhance access to essential public services such as health, education, and water.

Authorities now say maintaining the upward trend in performance will be critical in securing even greater funding and achieving long-term development goals for the district.
