The Minister of State for Finance (General Duties), Hon. Henry Musasizi, has urged members of the newly inaugurated Rubanda District Service Commission to uphold the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality, and integrity in executing their duties.
Presiding over the swearing-in ceremony at Volcano Hotel in Rubanda Town Council on Monday, Musasizi cautioned the commissioners against corruption, favoritism, and the sale of public service jobs, warning that such practices undermine the credibility of government institutions.
He emphasized that ethical discipline is the cornerstone of effective and accountable public service, urging the new members to remain impartial, objective, and confidential in handling all recruitment matters. The Minister further warned that leaking internal discussions or documents would not be tolerated.
Musasizi noted that corruption in recruitment had previously damaged the district’s reputation and vowed to ensure strict oversight of public resources, holding accountable any officers found engaging in unethical conduct. He encouraged the commissioners to work as a united and professional team focused on improving service delivery in Rubanda.
He also reminded public servants that although they are not politicians, they operate within a government structure guided by a clear development agenda, and therefore must promote cooperation, stability, and collective progress over divisive politics.
Rubanda LC5 Chairperson Stephen Ampaire Kasyaba pledged full support to the new commission, assuring them of the necessary resources to perform effectively. He echoed the Minister’s call for integrity and accountability, citing corruption as a major challenge to service delivery.
Kasyaba revealed that following previous concerns from the Public Service Commission about irregular appointments, the district has prioritized recruiting teachers and civil servants of integrity. He commended the commission for conducting transparent interviews that drew praise from national oversight bodies.
Rubanda RDC Eric Ssewandigi also hailed the district leadership for promoting clean governance, warning fraudsters and middlemen who exploit job seekers that they will face legal consequences.
The newly sworn-in Rubanda District Service Commission members include Beda Turinomuhangi (Chairperson), Peter Buregyeya, Goreti Kobusingye, Aggrey Tumwesigye, and Beatrice Tumushabe. The oath was administered by His Worship Isaac Rukundo, the Rubanda Principal Grade One Magistrate.
