Two Arrested Over Brutal Murder of 65-Year-Old Woman in Kisoro

Story by Obed Kankiriho

Police in Kisoro District have arrested two individuals for questioning in connection with the alleged murder of a 65-year-old woman in Nyanamo Town Council.

The deceased, identified as Angelica Kamaganzo, a peasant from Kigeyo Village in Kigeyo Ward, was reportedly involved in a dispute prior to her death. Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed that Kamaganzo had told her stepson, Kwiringira Auleriano, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, around 2:00 PM, that she had a quarrel with a woman named Twimukye Grace. Kwiringira advised her to report the matter to the police.

However, Kamaganzo was unable to do so. Later that evening, around 8:30 PM, Kwiringira, who was at home, heard his stepmother’s desperate screams for help. She shouted, “They are killing me!” Alarmed, Kwiringira alerted neighbors, who promptly contacted the police.

Upon receiving the distress call, a team of officers, including the District Police Commander, District Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), responded swiftly. They visited the crime scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and transported the body to Kisoro Hospital for a postmortem examination.

While the identities of the arrested individuals have not been disclosed, Maate confirmed that two suspects are currently in custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation.

The police are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the death of Kamaganzo.
