Police in Rukungiri District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of two people in Nyakasharara Cell, Rubanga South Parish, Buyanja Sub-county.
The deceased have been identified as Emmanuel Karubakanga, 19, and Justus Akandwanaho, 25, both residents of the area.
According to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, Karubakanga picked a quarrel with Akandwanaho at a trading centre, after which Akandwanaho allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a knife, killing him instantly.
Tumushime says residents who learnt about the incident later caught Akandwanaho and lynched him to death.
Police have launched investigations and are appealing to anyone with information that could help in the case to report to the nearest police station. The identities of informants will be kept confidential.
