Kisoro, Uganda – A 17-year-old boy, Jay Ntwari, has been arrested in Kisoro District following the death of his 64-year-old father, Nsenga John, during a violent altercation over meat. The tragic incident occurred in Mupaka Town Council on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
According to police reports, the dispute began after Nsenga John hosted guests on Saturday and purchased 1.5 kilograms of meat, which was consumed that day. The following day, Nsenga became angry when his wife, Niringiyimana Brandinah, served a meal without meat, insisting he wanted more despite being told it was finished. He then allegedly threw the food away.
Later, Ntwari returned home and found his parents arguing. Nsenga, in a rage, allegedly attacked Ntwari with a machete, cutting his ear. In retaliation, Ntwari is accused of striking his father on the head with a stick, resulting in Nsenga’s death.
Following the altercation, Nsenga went to the Mupaka Border Police Post to report his son for assault and was given a medical form. However, he collapsed at Kinanira Health Center III and died shortly after being transferred to Mutolere Hospital.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirmed Ntwari’s arrest. He will be charged accordingly after the police investigation is complete.
