At least seven groups of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kasese Municipality have received Shs34 million from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development under the National Special Grant for the 2025/2026 financial year.
Speaking to the press, Kasese Municipal Labour Officer Margaret Biira said the funds are intended to support existing group projects and help beneficiaries achieve their objectives.
Biira urged other PWDs in the municipality to form registered groups if they wish to benefit from the grant, emphasizing that the funding is only available to groups and not individuals.
Meanwhile, Railway Ward Councillor and Secretary for Social Services, John Siriwayo, called on the beneficiary groups to utilize the funds effectively to ensure sustainability and improve their livelihoods.
