Ibanda Municipality authorities have announced that enforcement of a new trade order will begin in May 2026, aimed at restoring order and improving the business environment.
The development was confirmed by Deputy Town Clerk Pius Murekyezi after a closed-door stakeholder meeting at the municipal council hall involving local leaders and traders.
He said implementation will be phased, starting with small-scale traders such as street vendors and those operating along roadsides and pedestrian walkways. The first phase will also target structures built without approved physical plans from municipal authorities.
The trade order forms part of a nationwide initiative targeting municipalities, cities, and town councils to improve urban management and promote orderly trading practices.
