The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Kisoro District has summoned district officials to respond to an application filed by six members of the District Service Commission challenging the ongoing recruitment process.
According to court documents dated May 5, 2026, the applicants are seeking a temporary injunction against Kisoro District Council and district authorities over alleged interference in the recruitment of civil servants.
The applicants argue that attempts to halt the recruitment process and institute disciplinary action against them could undermine the lawful operations and independence of the commission.
The six officials include Nsahaka Erastus, Fr. Safari Emmanuel, Richard Turamuhawe, Peace Mbabazi, Gaudensia Busingye and Francesca Mugisha.
They want court orders restraining district authorities from stopping the ongoing recruitment exercise based on earlier job advertisements and protection from suspension, interdiction, or disruption of their duties until the main application is determined.
Court records show the matter will be heard on May 26, 2026, while the main case is scheduled for June 16, 2026.
The legal proceedings stem from a petition filed on April 10, 2026, by Kisoro District LC5 Vice Chairperson, Alex Nambajimana, who raised concerns about alleged irregularities in the recruitment process.
Nambajimana cited alleged inconsistencies in shortlisting, deviation from advertised positions, inclusion of unadvertised jobs during interviews, favoritism, and alleged misuse of reserve lists.
He also questioned the implementation of a proposal to recruit additional staff following discussions on wage resources and called for a temporary suspension of the recruitment advert pending a thorough review.
Observers say the court process could help resolve the dispute through legal means while strengthening transparency and accountability in public service recruitment.
