The Inspectorate of Government (IG) office in Mbarara has arrested Ntare School headteacher Saul Rwampororo, his predecessor Jimmy Turyagyenda and former school typist Peace Kebirungi over an alleged financial loss of UGX 110.8 million and abuse of office.
The arrests follow investigations into allegations that Kebirungi continued receiving a government salary for nearly nine years after allegedly using a forged university admission letter to secure study leave with pay before abandoning her duties.
Sarah Magola, head of the Inspectorate of Government office in the South Western region, said Kebirungi allegedly presented the false admission letter in October 2015 and subsequently absconded from duty but continued receiving her salary.
Magola said Turyagyenda allegedly concealed the misconduct before his retirement from public service, while Rwampororo was also implicated in the matter.
She added that Kebirungi allegedly received irregular salary payments from September 2015 to August 2024.
In 2023, Kebirungi reportedly applied for early retirement, and Rwampororo forwarded the application despite her alleged ineligibility because she had absconded from duty.
By February 2026, Kebirungi had allegedly received UGX 110.8 million in irregular salary payments, according to Magola.
The three suspects have been transferred to Kampala and are expected to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court to answer charges related to the alleged financial loss and abuse of office.
