Police in Mbarara City have arrested 52 suspected criminals during an operation conducted on Saturday morning at a gaming house known as Liverpool House on Buremba Road.

The operation targeted individuals allegedly involved in the sale of suspected stolen property, including mobile phones and computers.

During the raid, police recovered 80 suspected stolen phones and computers.

Mbarara City Division Police Commander, SP Kenneth Kabwigo Gumisiriza, said the operation was part of intensified efforts to crack down on criminal activities in the city.

He added that after screening the suspects, 30 were formally charged after police recovered exhibits believed to have been stolen.

Police say investigations are ongoing to identify the owners of the recovered items and trace other suspects linked to the illegal trade.
