Muslim and political leaders in Kabale District have called for unity, impartial leadership, and issue-based politics as the country heads into the 2026 general elections.
The call was made during a thanksgiving and commissioning ceremony for the residence of the Kabale District Kadhi, held at Masjid Jaamia Kirigime Mosque grounds in Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.
The Kabale District Kadhi, Sheikh Kabu Lule, urged candidates to conduct mature and respectful campaigns, emphasizing that political rallies should be used to present manifestos rather than insult opponents. He cautioned leaders and voters against treating elections as a do-or-die affair.
Sheikh Lule further encouraged voters to base their choices on candidates’ capacity, integrity, and track record in service delivery, rather than being swayed by handouts and political deception.
He also appealed to government to upgrade Kirigime Health Centre III to a Health Centre IV and support the construction of a theatre at the facility to improve health service delivery in the area.
Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament, Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira, emphasized the need for impartiality among government officials and warned against the politics of religion. She noted that fair and inclusive politics would promote harmony and enable leaders to work together for the district’s development.
