Two Injured in Global Bus Crash as Driver Flees Scene

Police in Bushenyi District are hunting for a bus driver who fled after a head-on collision that left two people injured.

The accident occurred on Friday morning near Peak Hotel along the Ishaka–Mbarara road, close to the former Banyankole Kweteraana Cooperative factory.

The crash involved a Global bus, registration number UBE 159N, and an Isuzu tipper, registration number UBK 390M.

Preliminary findings indicate the bus driver was attempting to overtake three vehicles when he collided head-on with the tipper truck.

According to the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa, two people were injured and no fatalities were recorded. He added that the driver fled the scene immediately after the crash, and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing.

Police have attributed the accident to reckless driving and overspeeding.
