Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi the Kasese District Chairperson, has warned the District Service Commission against recruiting staff on transfer of service, insisting that available jobs should be given to qualified but unemployed residents in Kasese District.
The warning comes as the district and Kasese Municipal Council advertise several job vacancies to fill existing gaps. Positions advertised include Municipal Engineer, Principal Commercial Officer, Inspector of Schools, Clinical Officers, and various health and education roles.
Muhindi emphasized that despite the Commission’s independence, priority must be given to local unemployed professionals to help tackle unemployment. He also cautioned the public against paying bribes to secure jobs, stressing that recruitment is based on merit.
Meanwhile, Chief Administrative Officer Edward Kasagara said newly recruited teachers will be posted to areas they are familiar with to reduce absenteeism caused by high living costs and long distances to workplaces.
