Police have launched a manhunt for unknown assailants following the murder of Evelyn Nkanshabe, a 35-year-old bar owner from Muhanga Town Council, whose body was discovered along a roadside in Rubare Town Council, Ntungamo District.
Nkanshabe, popularly known as Kyarenga, was a resident of Rwabahanze Cell in Muhanga Ward.
According to reports, she received a phone call on Monday night around 10:00 PM from her boyfriend, only identified as Brian, who allegedly invited her out for drinks. She left home to meet him but never returned.
Her worried relatives reported her missing at Muhanga Police Station, and later her body was found dumped by the roadside in Rubare.
Police recovered the body and transferred it to Itojo Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem.
Authorities from both Ntungamo and Rukiga districts, including traffic officers, CID detectives, and a Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO), visited the crime scene.
A murder case file has been opened at Rukiga Central Police Station as investigations continue.
Police have appealed to the public for any information that could help identify and arrest the perpetrators.
