Kampala, Uganda — The National Unity Platform (NUP) Executive Committee has approved new leadership appointments in an acting capacity to fill vacant positions within the party. The decision was made during a committee meeting held on Thursday at the NUP head quarters in Makerere Kavule as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s leadership across various regions and sectors.
Among the notable appointees is Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi Muhammad, who will serve as the Deputy President in charge of Central Uganda, succeeding Mathias Mpuuga
Jolly Jackline Tukamushaba has been appointed as the Deputy President in charge of Western Uganda, replacing the late Jolly Mugisha.
Additional appointments include:
- Rev. Dr. Ben Byamugisha Butumbwire as the Secretary for the Elderly
- Harriet Ageno as the Secretary for Policy
- Julius Maganda as the Secretary for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
- Prince Bwambale as the Secretary for Youth, Western Region
In his address, NUP President Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, urged the new leaders to prioritize service to the people above all else, reminding them of their duty as servants of the people, not the other way around.
The new appointments are expected to enhance NUP’s organizational structure and improve the party’s outreach to diverse communities. Party officials expressed confidence that the new leaders will bring fresh energy and strategic direction to their respective roles.
These appointments come at a critical time as the NUP continues to consolidate its political presence and prepare for upcoming political activities.
