President Museveni has called on university students across the country to embrace patriotism and take an active role in the fight against corruption by leading through example within their communities.
In a message delivered by the Vice President, Rtd. Maj. Jessica Alupo, during the 21st graduation ceremony of Bishop Stuart University held on Friday in Kakoba, Mbarara City, President Museveni emphasized the critical responsibility of higher institutions of learning to nurture leaders who combine technical expertise with strong ethical values such as honesty, selflessness, and value addition.
A total of 1,660 students were awarded degrees, diplomas, and certificates in various disciplines at the ceremony.
The President commended Bishop Stuart University for aligning its academic programs with the government’s Human Capital Development Strategy, particularly in science-based fields such as nursing and environmental sciences.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the education sector at all levels, urging stakeholders to continue supporting its growth for the collective benefit of Ugandans.
In his remarks, the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. John F. Mugisha, encouraged graduands to build personal brands grounded in integrity, innovation, and resilience. He further advised them to use social media responsibly by showcasing their skills and ideas rather than focusing solely on entertainment.
