Mbarara City North Division council has approved a UGX 4.6 billion budget for the 2026/2027 financial year, with a strong focus on roads, works, and administration to improve service delivery.
The budget was presented by Finance Committee Chairperson Johnbosco Magembe and passed during a council sitting chaired by Speaker Silver Mugisha.
The new budget marks a 28.2 percent increase from the current UGX 3.6 billion, attributed to improved local revenue mobilization and compliance.
Local revenue will contribute the largest share at UGX 3.5 billion, alongside support from central government transfers, the Urban Discretionary Development Equalisation Grant, Uganda Wildlife Authority, and other funding sources.
Roads and works take the biggest allocation at UGX 1.8 billion, followed by administration at UGX 1.2 billion. Other sectors funded include health, finance, statutory bodies, and community services.
Division Mayor Gumisiriza Kyabwisho said infrastructure development will remain a priority to transform the division.
