Police in Mbarara District are searching for suspects behind the murder of 36-year-old Barnabas Nayebare, whose body was found dumped along a road in Kashare Sub-county.

According to ASP Amos Betunga, officer in charge of Rubindi, Nayebare was violently killed by stoning, suffering severe head injuries. The murder is suspected to have occurred on Tuesday night.

His father, Sebastian Bigirwa Ruhanga, a district councilor for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), received the tragic news on Wednesday morning and alerted the police.

Authorities, assisted by a sniffer dog, responded, but the crime scene had been tampered with, making it difficult to track the perpetrators.

Local leaders, including LC2 Nchune Parish Chairman Godwin Mugisha, condemned the brutal act and assured residents that police are working tirelessly to bring the culprits to justice.

Betunga urged the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity that may aid the investigation.
