Story by Ivan Mugisha

Tensions erupted at the Grade One Magistrate Court in Kamwenge on Wednesday after four suspects, including Kitagwenda District Councilor for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Levi Amarakutunga, failed to appear for a second time in connection with the gruesome murder of 4-year-old Trinah Ainomugisha.

The accused were expected to appear before the court on May 8, following their previous no-show on April 14, 2025.

However, their continued absence sparked fury among the deceased child’s relatives and members of the public who had gathered early at the court, anxiously awaiting the proceedings.

By 9 a.m., dozens of grieving family members and community supporters had filled the courthouse premises.

When court officials confirmed that the suspects would not be appearing once again, chaos ensued.

Angry relatives demanded answers, accusing authorities of dragging their feet and denying justice for the murdered child.
