Authorities in Mahyoro Town Council, Kitagwenda District, have intensified measures to prevent the possible spread of Ebola at the local landing site amid rising cases in Uganda and neighboring DR Congo.
Town Clerk Pius Mugisha said local leaders are engaging traders and fishermen through awareness meetings aimed at strengthening compliance with Ebola prevention measures.
He noted that mandatory handwashing and other Standard Operating Procedures have already been introduced at the landing site, which attracts traders from Kasese and other neighboring areas, increasing the risk of disease transmission.
