Authorities in Kitagwenda District have officially launched the distribution of free mosquito nets, with Village Health Teams collecting the nets for delivery to communities across the district.

The exercise is part of the nationwide Ministry of Health campaign launched on April 7, 2026, aimed at distributing 25.8 million long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets across 130 districts to reduce malaria infections.

Speaking during the launch, District Malaria Focal Person Anthony Tukwasiibwe said the district registered at least 43,617 households during the house-to-house registration exercise.

He noted that the district is targeting to distribute more than 113,000 mosquito nets to over 207,518 residents.

Tukwasiibwe urged residents, including those who missed the registration exercise, to collect mosquito nets from their designated village distribution points.
